Breast Fibroadenoma

Benign breast tumors (fibroadenomas), affect as many as 15 million Americans.

Current tumor treatment approaches involve surgical excision in an operating room, causing significant side effects and recovery time, as well as scarring and deformation.

IceCure introduces the IceSense™, a minimally-invasive treatment that is performed in the physician’s office.

For the patient, the IceSense procedure offers a non-surgical solution with no pain, and practically no scarring or downtime.

The physician uses Ultrasound guidance to position the IceSense probe in the tumor under local anesthesia only.  Then, an ice ball is formed, which engulfs the tumor and destroys the tumor tissue.  The ice ball is clearly visualized on the Ultrasound, letting the physician make sure that the tumor is completely covered.  The tumor is then absorbed and cleared by the patient’s immune system over time, with no re-growth or breast deformities

CPT code 19105 has been issued in 2007, for reimbursement of this procedure in the US.

The American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBS) has issued an official statement recognizing the safety and effectiveness of Cryoablation for the treatment of Fibroadenoma Full Statement
